Pride In Entrepreneurship – Identity-Focused Business Coaching

hands holding rainbow heart

The Challenge

The Pride In Entrepreneurship program required a service provider capable of bridging the gap between high-level business strategy and lived experience. Many participants identified as both queer and a person with a disability, requiring a consultant who understood the specific systemic and personal barriers faced by this demographic. The goal was to help these entrepreneurs launch their digital presence and operationalize their businesses in a safe, informed environment.

The Action

As a queer entrepreneur with lived experience in the disability sector, I was contracted to lead participants through a customized one-on-one marketing and operations program.

  • Holistic Digital Launches: Guided participants through the full cycle of launching a digital presence, including front-end website builds and SEO-ready content strategies.

  • Technology Procurement: Assisted in selecting and procuring hardware and software, such as CRMs and project management tools, specifically tailored to the user's technical aptitude.

  • Trauma-Informed Coaching: Developed a flexible coaching framework that accounted for the specific needs of neurodivergent and disabled entrepreneurs, focusing on accessible communication and sustainable business growth.

  • Workflow Optimization: Taught participants how to utilize automation and business operations tools to reduce the administrative burden of running a new business.

The Result

The program provided a stable foundation for a diverse cohort of new business owners.

  • Project Completion: Successfully led participants through tailored coaching programs ranging from one to six months.

  • Digital Readiness: 98% of participants in the coaching stream successfully launched their websites or implemented new digital marketing strategies.

  • Operational Independence: Participants moved from technical uncertainty to operational confidence, gaining the skills to manage their own digital assets and customer data independently.

Insight 1: The Value of Lived Experience

In inclusive entrepreneurship, who is as important as the what. Having a coach who shares lived experience created an immediate baseline of trust, allowing us to bypass the standard barriers to entry and move directly into high-impact business work.

Insight 2: Adaptive Technical Instruction

Participant success was rooted in my ability to scale technical language. For those with high aptitude, we focused on advanced automation; for those with lower aptitude, we focused on foundational ease of use. This custom approach prevented information overwhelm which often leads to program drop-off.

Insight 3: Consistency as a Success Factor

For entrepreneurs managing disabilities and identity-based challenges, the rhythm of the program was vital. Regular, predictable appointments and consistent follow-ups acted as a structural support system, ensuring that business goals remained on track even when personal barriers arose.
